Before Hams invented DIY Electronics and even before Electric Current gained any respectable position in the Manufacturing Community. The thing that was making many heads nod in unison, was Steam Engines. Coal, Steel and then Steam Engines made the word Manufacturing Meaningful. The DIY in that Mechanical Learning context can be Meccano.

Make a Micro Forge


Blacksmith is the "Father of Engineering". Though the name Engineer came with Steam Engines. The one who used to Make Gadgets like the HorseShoe on the Anvil was Fullioautomatix the Blacksmith.
